Charlotte Tomlinson studied at the University of York and was awarded a scholarship to study at the Guildhall of Music and Banff Centre of Fine Arts, Canada. Her career as a duo pianist and chamber musician has taken her all over the world with recitals in the Gulf States, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, Europe, UK and across South East Asia with the Hong Kong Piano Trio.
She has been an accompanist for Royal College of Music, Royal Academy of Music, Trinity College and for BBC Young Musician of the Year. She has broadcast for Dutch National Radio, RTHK and BBC Radio 3.
In Hong Kong, she was a vocal coach and official accompanist at the Academy for Performing Arts, lectured in performance and taught piano at the University of Hong Kong, and formed the Hong Kong Piano Trio.
Charlotte taught piano at the Purcell School for eleven years and was also the Artistic Director and founder of Chamber Music International, an international summer school for chamber music and composition. Sir Simon Rattle (patron) said of it: "...inspirational and visionary...I think it's wonderful!”
She also works as a Performance Coach, helping musicians manage performance anxiety, move on from repetitive strain injury (RSI) and rebuild their relationship with their instrument after difficult & traumatic experiences. Any student automatically gets the benefits of these skills, if needed, as part of her teaching!
