Emma Schied is a founding member of the Mahler Chamber orchestra and was chosen by Claudio Abbado to be the solo Cor Anglais of the Luzern Festival Orchestra.
A former principal oboe of the Budapest Festival Orchestra Emma also plays with prestigious orchestras such as Orchestre de Paris, Orchestre National de France, Bayerisches Rundfunk orchestra, Swedish Radio orchestra, Westdeutscher Rundfunk Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra and is cited in Christian Merlin's acclaimed book " Au Coeur De l'Orchestre" as being one of the five great cor anglais soloists of our time.
In high demand as a chamber musician Emma plays with renowned ensembles such as Paris Bastille Ensemble, Sabine Meyer ensemble and at prestigious venues all over the world: The Luzern Festival and Salzburg summer festival, Beethovenfest Budapest, Beethovenfest Bonn, The Charlottesville Chamber Music Festival, The West Cork Music Festival, La Folle Journée Japan, Eilat Festival, the Kurt Weill fest Dessau.
Emma travels the world as an oboe and cor anglais teacher and also coaches in Verbier Festival Academy, Catalonian Youth Orchestra, Colombian Youth Orchestra, Royal Northern College of Music, The Simon Bolivar Academy Venezuela, Orchester Zentrum Dortmund, Instituto Baccarelli Brazil, Singapore National Youth Orchestra, Vanderbilt Academy, Stuttgart Hochschule, and is a former faculty member of The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
